Best restaurants in Paris, gastronomic excellence
The Cristal Room Baccarat lives up to its delightful name with its enchanting surroundings. This designer restaurant on the place des Etats-Unis was formerly the private mansion of Marie-Laure de Noailles, and retains much of the opulence of its illustrious past with its interior décor by Philippe Starck. Here is grand style and design, grandeur and decadence, with a wonderful use of cameos, exposed brick, and Baccarat chandeliers. The restaurant is managed by the Michelin starred chef Guy Martin and the head chef is Adrien Manac'h.
Close to the Champs Elysees can be found l'Arome, an Art Deco bistro offering superb modern French gastronomic cuisine in a dining area designed by Valerie Serin. Chef Thomas Boullault offers an inventive and refined menu which changes with the seasons. Elegant, yet friendly and welcoming, it has a festive ambience, with Murano lights illuminating cosily romantic alcoves.
Designed by Sir Terence Conran, l'Alcazar on the rue Mazarine is relaxed, fun and chic. Occupying the spot formerly graced by the Alcazar cabaret, this glass roofed restaurant with modern décor has a distinctly contemporary vibe. French and English dishes and some superb seafood are offered by chef Guillaume Lutard while old Hollywood movies are projected onto the white walls or the best DJs in Paris perform. L'Alcazar occupies two levels and there is a really cool cocktail bar upstairs.
