Quai Branly Museum: a journey through time and around the world
Dedicated to the arts and cultures of Africa, Asia, Oceania and the Americas, the Musée du Quai Branly provides an enlightening experience for all ages. Immerse yourself in the creative richness and diversity of the ethnography of non-European civilisations from the Stone Age to the 20th century. The museum’s permanent exhibitions featuring some 3,500 works are complemented by original and imaginative temporary exhibitions. The current temporary exhibitions offer profound insights into the long-lost Olmec civilisation and the still-extant Kanak culture.
From Mexico to New Caledonia
From October 9th, 2020 to July 25th, 2021, the exhibition entitled The Olmecs and the Civilizations of the Gulf of Mexico invites you to discover the little-known world of the pre-Columbian Mesoamerican cultures which for more than 3,000 years created, nurtured and developed impressive religious, intellectual and artistic traditions and concepts. Then, from November 3rd, the museum invites you to discover the heritage inventoried by Roger Boulay from 1979 to 1998 as presented in the exhibition Kanak Journals. Learn of the adventure involved in compiling this inventory and acquaint yourself with the fascinating culture of the indigenous Melanesian inhabitants of New Caledonia in the southwest Pacific.
