Although not yet quite there, spring is approaching and with it a host of thrilling salons and exhibitions will bloom in the capital. The popular Agriculture Salon is inescapable in mid-February. Lots of exciting new additions will make this year’s show from February 27th to March 2nd even more interesting. Then following that, the always exciting Tourism and Book Fairs from 17th to 20th March.
The agricultural world and us
In order to follow the news, the theme of the Agriculture Show is to be focused on "socially responsible agriculture and food" this year. The programme is so vast that it will be spaced over four ‘universes’; ‘Livestock and Breeding’, ‘Crops and Plants’, ‘Culinary Products’ and ‘Agricultural Services and Professions’. 3,850 cows, pigs, sheep, horses, ponies, rabbits, ducks and other chickens will be present alongside their breeders for the most successful "made in France" show ever. Conferences, debates, and exhibitions punctuate the salon, where, between reflecting on the benefits of the organic sector of employment and health, you can admire Cerise, the beautiful grey Bazardaise cow who is the mascot of the 2016 show. Be sure to take time to sample lots of champagne and cheeses….to Gluttony, the best of sins!
Around the world and literature
The Tourism Fair offers every imaginable form of round-the-world travel – travel by train, boat, bicycle, pedal boat, or even balloon for the more intrepid. Unless perhaps you prefer to rent a small stone house in the depths of the Cantal, anything is possible! Don’t miss your chance to travel again to the Book Fair, which puts South Korean literature in the spotlight this year. 30 writers and twenty editors will discuss the books and literary creations of South Korea and there will be interviews and signing sessions. Two guest cities, Brazzaville and Pointe Noire have also been invited and their representatives will showcase the literature of Congo. And, like every year, you can look forward to editors presenting their latest catalogues, the emergence of exciting new authors and a special area dedicated to children’s literature.
